Description

My Cat is a Tamagotchi-style pet simulator that asks you to raise a virtual kitten through feeding, washing, resting, and play. It is less about watch-and-wait and more about keeping a tiny digital creature occupied. For anyone who grew up with virtual pets, it brings that loop into a phone-friendly format. The cute exterior hides a surprisingly active daily routine.

A Day with the Virtual Kitten

Each session starts with checking the kitten’s current mood. Hunger, sleep, and dirt appear at different times, so you need to decide what gets attention first. The reactions are gradual, not instant; the kitten does not flip between happy and angry. You can also brush it, dress it, clean its litter box, and watch how each action changes the next response. That delayed feedback makes it feel closer to caring for a real pet than tapping icons in a menu.

AR Photos, Lighting, and Phone Limits

AR mode is the main feature that separates this from a standard virtual pet toy. I tested My Cat on a mid-range Android and a newer phone; the cat looks convincing in both, but it locks to the floor only in a bright, uncluttered room. Low light weakens the shadow effect, and a busy carpet can make the kitten slide slightly across the screen. Once a photo is taken, the editing tools stay out of the way. Frames and stickers are easy to apply, and sharing to Instagram or WhatsApp works without extra menus.

Repetition, Downtime, and the Daily Grind

Rest unlocks minigames, which is a good way to spend time while the kitten sleeps. Matching tiles, quick-tap challenges, and memory rounds are fine for a few minutes, but the pool becomes predictable quickly. After about ten sittings, I noticed I was only clearing the same sets for coins.

The bigger restriction is the care schedule. Skip two or three days, and the kitten returns grumpy, with red progress bars waiting for cleanup. It requires daily attention, which is charming for kids but a real commitment for anyone with an irregular routine.

Is My Cat Worth a Download?

For people who want a low-pressure digital pet keeper, the answer is mostly yes. I would not recommend it to players expecting deeper mechanics or a long-term progression system. The app does not pretend to be anything more than a cozy simulation; that simplicity is both its strength and its ceiling. It is stable on modest hardware, and the AR feature gives it enough identity to stand alone. If you want a more complex pet game, you will feel the limits within a week.
